An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and suitably skilled Occupational Therapist to join our surgery team based at the University Hospital of Wales. You will gain experience primarily of acute surgery with the opportunity to gain skills in trauma and vascular services. You will also be part of the larger surgery team which includes services in University Hospital of Llandough, working collaboratively with the wider team within UHW alongside colleagues in medicine and specialties.
This is an exciting period as we are currently operationalising our Occupational Therapy strategy across surgery, providing opportunities to engage in service development and ensuring we provide the best value to our service users.
We wish to appoint an ambitious and motivated individual with excellent communication skills, effective team working, and a passion for development and service improvement.
Main duties of the job
You will work with patients with a range of complex needs following surgical interventions, developing knowledge and skills within this specialist service.
You will have the opportunity to consolidate clinical skills, build experience, and invest in quality improvement developments.
You will be supported with induction/training and supervision. Development will be supported underpinned by the RCOT Pillars of Practice and Cardiff and Vale Occupational Therapy Strategy. You will deliver occupationally focused practice, achieving outcomes that matter to people using evidence-based practice and research.
Opportunities for the development of supervisory skills will be available, and engagement in service development/improvement projects and role promotion is encouraged.
A seven-day service is delivered in some services.
