Robin Smith Ward is a 28 bedded surgical ward, caring for both elective and emergency patients, as well as ITU step down patients. We work with multiple specialties including, Colorectal, Upper GI, Urology, Gynaecology, Max fax, ENT, with a special interest in Enhanced Recovery.

The role is an opportunity to work as part of an experienced team. You will work alongside highly experienced Nurses and HealthCare professionals, providing you with the support you need while you settle into your new position.
We are looking for a dynamic Clinical Healthcare Support Worker to join the Robin Smith team; experience is desirable but not essential. On Robin Smith, we value a strong work ethic, dependability, and a positive attitude.

Main duties of the job
1. Accurately record patient's vital signs, e.g., temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate. Recognise and report abnormalities.
2. Promote and maintain patient privacy and dignity.
3. Ensure that patient confidentiality is respected at all times, including verbal and written information.
4. Contribute to patient assessments, ensuring that any relevant information provided by the patient is communicated to the Registered Nurse.
5. Provide support and reassurance to patients and others at times of loss or distress, ensuring that the Registered Nurse in charge is aware of any communication that has taken place.
6. Help to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, reporting any hazards that might endanger others to the Nurse in charge and/or taking appropriate action to remove these.
7. Assist the Registered Nurse team to ensure that equipment is kept clean, well maintained, and ready for use, and that broken items are sent promptly for repair in accordance with local procedures.
8. Assist the nursing team to ensure that supplies/stocks are maintained.
9. Assist in the maintenance of ward cleanliness and tidiness and adhere to Infection Control Policy at all times.
10. Safely obtain, transmit and store information relating to the delivery of a care service.
11. Perform ECGs and phlebotomy.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Basic school education with GCSE passes or equivalent.
* Basic IT skills.
* NVQ Level III Care Award - Direct Care or equivalent.
Skills
* Understands the need for strict confidentiality.
* Understands and is committed to a caring approach to patients & relatives.
* Able to prioritise own workload.
* Able to work under own initiative within boundaries of role.
* Demonstrates awareness of the importance of working as part of a team.
* Experience of working as a healthcare assistant in a hospital or outpatient setting.
