Job Summary
There is 1 post for a Consultant Anaesthetist with a sub-specialty interest in Upper GI. The Consultant Anaesthetist will provide Anaesthetic services at both Trust sites, Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital. The Consultant Anaesthetist will also provide on-call cover for CEPOD Theatres in Hull Royal Infirmary at 1 in 20 with prospective cover.
Main duties of the job
The Consultant Will, In Conjunction With Colleagues:
1. Provide theatre cover as below.
2. Provide an Anaesthetic Service in accordance with the agreed timetable and subsequent job plan.
3. Provide 1 in 20 on-call cover for CEPOD Theatres in Hull Royal Infirmary.
4. Supervise trainee Anaesthetic staff within the Trust.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: FRCA (or equivalent)
* Desirable: MD, PhD, Post graduate qualification in Education/Management
Eligibility
* Essential: Either on the specialist register CCT/CESR or if currently in a specialist registrar post, he/she is eligible to be registered within 6 months.
Fitness To Practise
* Essential: In good standing with the General Medical Council.
Language Skills
* Essential: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Clinical skills
* Essential: Must be able to demonstrate a high level of training and clinical experience and competence in all anaesthetic techniques relevant to the post.
* Must have worked in the UK for at least 12 months as an anaesthetist.
* ALS, ATLS and APLS Provider.
Knowledge/ Understanding
* Essential: Understanding of current issues in the NHS, and of the responsibilities of a NHS consultant.
Commitment to clinical governance / improving quality of patient care
* Essential: Evidence of completed Audit, Quality improvement projects, research.
Other Requirements
* Essential: Experience in training and teaching postgraduate and doctors and medical students in small and large groups.
Commitment to ongoing professional development
* Essential: Appraisal and ARCP processes with favourable outcomes.
Personal skills
* Essential: Well organised and skilled in good time management.
* Demonstrate ability to relate to and work within a team.
* Effective Interpersonal skills.
