We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Deputy Peer Lead to join the C& V MHCB in the Lived Experience (LE) Team. The successful candidate will be an experienced Peer Support Worker with skills and experience to lead Peer Support Practice, supervise others and facilitate Peer Support Work Training Courses. The role covers Mental Health in-patient and community settings. We consider lived and peer support experience as equivalent qualifications so welcome applicants with relevant experience. The C& V LE Workforce and Recovery College are Peer Led. The MHCB Deputy Peer lead will be supervised by the Peer Lead and the Strategic Lead for LE Workforce and Recovery College and will collaborate and co-reflect with the Recovery College Peer Lead, Operational Lead, and Co-Production Lead. With supervision from the Peer Lead, this role will involve leading on project management and development and evaluation of new and existing Peer Support Work developments, and will have responsibility for developing and supporting our MHCB Peer Support Team. Additionally, with supervision, the Deputy Peer Lead will support, train and advise clinical teams around recruitment and ongoing development and support of Peer Support Workers. The MHCB Deputy Peer Lead will work directly with service users as a Peer Support Worker and work as a Peer Trainer in the Recovery College, co-designing and co-delivering Peer Support training and teaching established models of Peer Support.
Main duties of the job
* To provide specialist advice and direction to The MH Clinical and the development of peer support.
* To hold responsibility for education and training within the MH Clinical Board and the Recovery College and to coordinate provision by multidisciplinary staff, service users, carers and multiagency providers.
With support from the Mental Health Clinical Board, develop the policies and procedures to enable the safe running of Peer Support across a range of venues.
* To provide leadership across the Peer Support Team including responsibility for appraisal, supervision, induction, training and education.
* To work closely with the Service lead for recovery, clinical leads for occupational therapy and the Peer Lead to promote, develop and embed the principles of recovery orientated practice across the MHCB.
* To work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, voluntary organisations, local authority and other appropriate health and social care sectors to negotiate Peer provision across all levels of mental health provision.
* To maintain appropriate records in accordance with UHB requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. CLINICAL
* Apply knowledge of peer support and acquired expertise that is underpinned by theory, evidence based practice and continued professional development.
* As an autonomous practitioner, will demonstrate self-management skills and independence in thought and action and take personal responsibility for professional performance e.g. regular lone working and with service-users/students in the community.
* Identifies and assesses individual learning needs/problems and formulates specific management plans for meeting complex learning needs.
* Monitors and evaluates the ongoing effectiveness of the Recovery College course plan.

2. COMMUNICATION

* To assist the Lived Experience Lead in the development, implementation and review of practice, policy and guidelines of the department.
* To provide specialist peer advice in relation to recovery to all who do business with the UHB.
