Job Title: Product Owner – Tax & Legal Technology
Base Location: Birmingham based (Hybrid – 2 days per week in office)

This team will be responsible for delivering technology enabled outcomes across the Tax & Legal business using modern and best in class engineering methodologies. We drive this transformation through the adoption of Cloud based technologies and have strategic relationships with Google, Microsoft among others. We have a technology agnostic view and select the right tool/language/cloud provider to achieve the best outcome for the business and our clients alike.

We’re part of the Tax Technology & Innovation team, responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions for a wide range of UK and global tax products. Our solutions share a common design system to ensure consistency, accessibility, and quality across multiple applications. You will join a small design team who collaborate with a cross-functional group of Product Owners, Business Analysts, Software Engineers, and QA professionals. What will you be doing?
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand their business goals, scope and deliverables, and contribute to the overarching product vision and roadmap.
* Capture complex business requirements and translate them into clear, concise and actionable user stories.
* Own the product backlog assuring it is prioritised in line with business goals and ready to drive development.
* Drive cross-functional collaboration with Software Engineering and Quality Assurance teams verifying requirements are understood, feasible and accurately implemented.
* Regularly communicate with key stakeholders during implementation phase to maintain alignment on deliverables and timelines.
* Control the product development budget and manage budget requests for future product initiatives.
* Promote the utilisation of new products and features to accelerate the benefit realisation and return on investment.
* Create and maintain product documentation, such as user guides and release notes.
What will you need to do it?
* Demonstrable experience as a Product Owner with a track record of successfully developing and launching in house built technology products.
* Proficiency in agile and scaled agile methodologies and experience leading multiple scrum teams.
* Previous experience leading small teams of Business Analysts.
* Excellent grasp of product management principles, user research methods, requirements engineering and stakeholder management.
* Outstanding communication skills, confident in collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Enthusiasm for delivering excellent products and user experiences.
* Experience working with web applications, implementing technologies across shared services.
Skills we’d love to see/Amazing Extras:
* Experience of integrating Generative AI services.
* Previous experience of Tax Compliance Software packages.
