The Perinatal Parent Infant Mental Health Service are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable nursery nurse to join our team on a permanent basis for the London Borough of Waltham Forest.
The successful post holder will work as part of our Multi-disciplinary team, providing treatment and intervention to women during the perinatal period who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties.
The core purpose of the team in which the post-holder will work is to deliver high quality, tailored interventions in maternal mental health and attachment-based approaches to mothers and infants in Waltham Forest. The Nursery Nurse role involves working with mothers and babies in their own homes, the community or at other premises such as children's centres across the boroughs. At the time of advertisement, we are using a blended hybrid model of working due to Covid-19 restrictions, which involves a mixture of remote working and face-to-face contacts.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will assist the multidisciplinary team in meeting the needs of children and their families by undertaking delegated duties that support and enable family-centered care. To work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that there is appropriate communication with other professionals involved in the care of the child and mother.
You will work alongside professionals offering therapeutic input with the mother and baby relationship as a focus of your work.
The post holder would be expected to have robust knowledge of child development and attachment which will inform their intervention. They should also have experience with maternal mental illness and the impact this has on the mother-baby relationship.

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).

Person Specification
Qualification
* Diploma in Childcare and Education (NNEB), Cache level 3, early years diploma or Diploma in childcare studies (BTEC)
* Early years Degree
Experience
* Experience of working within a community setting within the NHS
* Demonstrate an interest in working with women and babies in the area of perinatal mental health
* Experience of working with infants and their families in varied contexts
* Assessing developmental stages from birth to 2 years
* Working within a multi-agency environment
* Experience of working with mental health clients
* Experience of delivering groups
Knowledge
* Knowledge of developmental stages of babies from birth to 1 year and recognition where development falls out of expected milestones
* Knowledge of antenatal care and preparation
* Knowledge of local safeguarding policies and procedures
* Skills and knowledge of caring for babies from birth to 1 year
