Job Description: We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Physical Education (PE) Teacher to join a supportive and dedicated team at a well-respected secondary school in Leyland, Lancashire. This full-time, long-term position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young people with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
Responsibilities:
1. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated PE lessons that cater to the varying needs and abilities of SEND students.
2. Create a supportive and inclusive environment where all students feel encouraged to participate in physical activities and develop their skills.
3. Use a variety of strategies and tools to assess and record students' progress, achievements, and areas for development.
4. Collaborate with colleagues, including other SEND professionals, to coordinate support and ensure a cohesive approach to each student's education.
5. Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing regular feedback on students' progress and involving them in their child's learning journey.
6. Manage and organize resources, ensuring that equipment is safe and activities are risk-assessed.
7. Keep up to date with current developments in SEND education and PE, and participate in relevant professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in Physical Education or a related field.
2. Proven experience teaching PE, preferably within an SEND setting.
3. A strong understanding of the curriculum and the specific needs of students with SEND.
4. Ability to inspire and motivate students to enjoy physical activities and understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
5. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to ensure the safety of all students during physical activities.
6. An empathetic and patient approach to teaching with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
