Technical Project Manager – TMS Heathrow The Opportunity Join our team as a Technical Project Manager and take the lead in driving technical and operational improvements within our fleet. Your expertise will enhance fleet performance, reliability, and safety while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires a proactive, solutions-focused approach and a strong understanding of fleet technologies and project management. Key Responsibilities Track and analyse fleet performance, addressing reliability issues, repeat defects, and technical obsolescence. Lead fleet improvement initiatives to enhance operational availability, reliability, and safety while ensuring compliance with maintenance schedules, regulatory standards, and company policies. Identify and implement best practices for technical improvement programmes within the organisation and support fleet commissioning and decommissioning processes as required. Liaise with customers to establish continuous improvement processes and define key technical projects. Manage fleet modifications and upgrades, ensuring they meet safety and regulatory requirements. Oversee technical project execution, including vehicle upgrades, technology integration, and sustainability initiatives. Analyse fleet data to recommend cost-saving measures and efficiency improvements while ensuring all operations comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Provide expert advice on fleet systems, including diagnostics and troubleshooting. Collaborate with stakeholders, including suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams, ensuring project success. Maintain financial control over project budgets, costs, and resources, ensuring alignment with company goals. What We Are Looking For We seek a candidate with at least five years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, fleet management, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing technical projects from initiation to completion and possess strong knowledge of fleet technologies, including telematics, diagnostics, and maintenance tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including project management tools such as MS Project, is essential. The role requires excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills, alongside strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement is highly valued. Industry certifications such as PMP, SOE, or IMI are preferred. Experience working in an ISO-accredited environment, familiarity with sustainable and electric vehicle technologies, and exposure to Ground Support Equipment or the aviation sector would be advantageous but not essential.
