This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours as required between 08.00am and 16:00pm over a 5-day period.
Main duties of the job
Your Role:
As a Maintenance Electrician, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation of our hospitals. Your responsibilities will include:
* Electrical Maintenance: Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on a wide range of electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, power distribution, and emergency systems.
* Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults efficiently to minimize downtime and disruption.
* Technical Support: Providing expert technical advice and assistance to colleagues and clients.
* Safety Compliance: Adhering to strict safety regulations and industry best practices.

Job responsibilities
* Carry out all repairs and planned maintenance requests as assigned by Supervisor.
* Carry out and complete all work to a high standard to the satisfaction of the client and your Supervisor and appropriate safety requirements.
* Comply with Safe Systems of Work, operated by the Estates Maintenance Department, together with all relevant Statutory Regulations such as Health & Safety, COSHH, HTMs and other guidance documents, etc.
* To complete appropriate docket reports and task reports wholly and accurately, in conjunction with the Departments Quality Management System.
* Communicate effectively with clients/visitors to ensure jobs are completed to their satisfaction.
* Project a good image of the Department by good conduct and demeanour.
* Organise and instruct staff of lower grades when under your control.
* Use relevant tools/specialist tools and calibrated equipment, PPE and risk assessments on each task to ensure minimal H&S risk to self, staff and public.
* Diagnose and repair faults in Electrical Plant and Equipment, have understanding in Mechanical Engineering Services and Plumbing installations, to deal with new situations as they arise and pass on to others.
* Awareness and capability of the working of Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing Systems in NHS buildings.
* Instruct others on the above features and other aspects of his work.
* Design, manufacture, assemble, erect and install new works and certify as required.
* Perform a basic range of work of other crafts, with appropriate training.
* Understand fully the inter-relationship between the various maintenance crafts and other groups.
* Carry out all duties of lower grade craftsmen within the Trust, as requested.
* Normal duties will include tasks such as repairing pumps, boilers, catering equipment, bedpan machines and general electrical work, together with a wide variety of planned preventative maintenance.
* Requisition materials obtain costs, etc. in compliance with the Departments procurement procedures and with Trust Standing Financial Instructions.
* Utilise knowledge, training and experience to enable basic risk assessments to be carried out prior to any work being undertaken.
* To be able to work using own initiative if the situation arises.
* Work frequently in abnormal conditions and be prepared to carry out arduous tasks.
* To carry a hand-held device as required enabling contact via supervisor for urgent/emergency work repairs and work allocation.
* Must be prepared to work overtime and participate in "On-Call" Service (if required).
Person Specification
Personal Attributes
* Self-motivated with the ability to direct staff of lower grades.
* Ability to work in difficult situations including confined spaces and abnormal conditions.
Experience
* Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent.
* Demonstrable post qualification experience, preferably on maintenance activities.
* Experience of working as a time-served electrician.
* Experience of contracting and electrical maintenance works.
Qualifications
* City & Guilds in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
* City & Guilds 2380 BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
* Experience of working within an electrical role.
* Experience of working at an NHS organisation within the Estates function.
Knowledge and Awareness
* Electricity at Work Regulations.
* Health & Safety.
* COSHH.
Skills & Abilities
* Basic understanding of other trades.
Other
* Must be prepared to work overtime and participate in "On-Call" Service (if required).
* Access to a vehicle with the ability to drive within the district.
