An exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist has become available. NCA Pathology are now seeking to appoint a Training Officer to join our Service. The post-holder will be responsible for coordinating and delivering training and CPD opportunities across pathology in the NCA. They will work with our service teams to support training and trainees across all of our pathology services. In addition, the post holder will work with our strategic partners across Greater Manchester to help deliver and shape the workforce for our future.
Pathology is a team of over 500 professionals working over 5 Hospital sites at Wrightington, Wigan, Bury, Salford and Oldham to deliver comprehensive services to over 1,000,000 people.
To succeed in this role, the post holder must have excellent clinical knowledge of Biomedical Sciences, a proven ability to train staff and colleagues, with a deep understanding of the pathology training landscape, training methodologies and in-depth experience of working across the full learning and development cycle from needs training analysis to evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Devise, support and deliver pre-registration training packages for Biomedical scientists and pathology support staff.
2. Support the harmonisation and sharing of best practice for post-registration biomedical scientist training across all sites.
3. Maintain own registration with HCPC and maintain personal CPD.
4. Coordinate the delivery of training and CPD provision across pathology for all registered biomedical staff.
5. Design, own and coordinate delivery of the pathology training strategy, including chairing the pathology training committee.
6. Be the principal contact with respect to training with GM Pathology Workforce Group, IBMS, HEE, Higher Education Institutions and Further Education Colleges for the development of biomedical placements, training, curriculum and feedback.
7. Coordinate the development and harmonisation of competency frameworks across pathology, ensuring best practice is shared and acted upon.
8. Liaise with, educate and competency assess pathology-based trainers for the delivery of high-quality training and development of a high-quality training culture.
