This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, organised individual with excellent communication and IT skills to join the Gastro and Hepatology admin team in a busy city centre hospital.
This a varied role involving editing and proof reading clinical letters, liaising with patients, GP’s, clinical and admin teams and supporting the medical secretary and clinic coordinator team to provide high quality clinical outcome information within the Trust’s turnaround target.
To liaise with and act as a point of contact for clinical and non-clinical staff, patients and GP's via telephone and email.
Proof-read clinical letters, general correspondence and reports using the Trust’s Digital Dictation and Speech Recognition System, ensuring that all correspondence is accurate and despatched within the Trust’s target turnaround time
The post holder should be polite and empathetic to the patient’s needs and be able to communicate effectively when dealing with difficult situations/conversations.
Escalate patient queries and general issues to the relevant staff as appropriate.
To show a caring and professional approach towards patients, relatives and carers. This may require acting with resilience to deal with sometimes distressed patients and relatives in a professional and empathetic manner.
Support the maintenance and updating of all patients’ referral to treatment pathways, including outpatient clinic outcomes, results tracking, any waiting list arrangements, and associated appointments, as required by the service. Ensuring speciality specific documentation is completed and filed appropriately.
