Band 8a - Highly Specialist (Advanced) Clinical Pharmacist for Surgery

A new opportunity has arisen for a skilled, innovative, and motivated senior pharmacist to join our Clinical Pharmacy team. The department provides a dynamic, supportive, and professionally rewarding environment for staff to develop their clinical and professional expertise.
Main Duties of the Job
1. The post holder will be an experienced specialist pharmacist responsible for assisting the Pharmacy Team Leader for Surgery in delivering, developing, evaluating, and managing clinical pharmacy services to the Surgical Division including Pre-Operative Assessment Clinics.
2. Provide expert advice on pharmaceutical matters, undertake risk management, and ensure compliance with medicines legislation.
3. Facilitate and support medicines optimisation, putting the patient at the centre of their care, and delivering optimal quality, value, and outcomes from medicines use.
4. Participate in clinical audit and practice research in their area of specialty.
5. Where qualified, may work as a fully independent pharmacist prescriber in an agreed area of competency to meet local needs.
6. Act as a role model in line with corporate & departmental objectives, NHS plan, and ICB system priorities.

Education and Qualifications:
* GPhC registration.
* MSc/Diploma in Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent).
* Management Training.
* Management Qualification.
Knowledge:
* Prescription Monitoring.
* Computer and IT Literate.
* Need for Confidentiality.
* Well-developed therapeutic and clinical pharmacy knowledge in appropriate areas.
* Up-to-date knowledge of national pharmacy issues.
* Critical appraisal skills.
* Preparation of written reports and procedures.
* NHS organisational structure.
* Health and Safety.
Experience:
* Experience in providing clinical services to medical and care of elderly patients.
* Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Clinical tutoring of postgraduate trainee pharmacists.
* Training Pre-reg Pharmacists and Junior Staff.
* Audit/research and development.
* Project management.
* Managing Staff.
* Experience in providing pre-operative pharmaceutical clinical service.
