Role overview
As a Senior Planner, you will lead the development and management of complex construction project schedules, ensuring optimal resource utilization and adherence to timelines. You will provide strategic planning oversight and mentorship to less experienced planners, contributing to project success by implementing advanced scheduling techniques. Your role will focus on high-level project planning and coordination, playing a key part in achieving efficient and successful construction outcomes.
You will work both independently and as part of the planning team. Your responsibilities will include identifying planning scope, major constraints, and contract requirements, as well as collaborating on the development of a strategic sequence and methodology during tender processes. You will ensure planning deliverables, including programs, planning philosophy, and presentations, align with project goals. This role also involves managing the contract stage, working closely with project stakeholders, and overseeing subcontractors.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the development and implementation of planning processes.
* Oversee the creation of key deliverables such as programs, planning philosophy, reports, and presentations.
* Guide the planning team in formulating Tender Programmes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
* Ensure efficient management of resources (labour, equipment, and materials) to meet project objectives.
* Provide strategic guidance through the contract stage, leading the planning team to produce and manage the Contract Programme.
* Display and evaluate the project critical path, advising the project team on results and necessary corrective actions.
* Produce and maintain project baselines and execute the change control process as required.
* Manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, resolving issues promptly.
* Aid the planning team in data analysis, tracking key performance indicators, and making data-driven decisions.
* Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to less experienced planners, fostering their growth and development.
* Utilize advanced expertise to apply complex scheduling techniques to improve project outcomes.
Key Skills / Experience Required:
* Analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Advanced proficiency in project management tools and software, such as Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6, or ASTA.
* Comprehensive understanding of construction project management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
* Expertise in project scheduling, risk management, budgeting, and cost estimation.
* Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
* Proven leadership and mentorship capabilities.
* Significant experience in producing and managing Construction Programmes for complex projects.
* Proven track record of leading planning efforts and successful project delivery.
* Previous experience managing relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders
