Job summary The imaging department at Weston General Hospital is looking to recruit a Band 6 Computed Tomography (CT) specialist radiographer averaged 37.5 hours a week across a 6 week rota including night shifts. This is a fixed term Maternity Cover post for 1 year. Applications are invited from Radiographers who have a minimum of 2 years CT experience. Previous NHS experience essential. Role development is encouraged and the department is committed to post graduate training and supporting CPD. Applicants will be expected to be involved in training student radiographers. We require staff with excellent communication skills, a flexible approach and attitude; commitment and passion to deliver and improve the service. Weston General Hospital Radiology Department is accredited by QSI, and all members of the Radiology Department are expected and encouraged to play an active role within this. To participate in the rotational shift pattern which ensures the CT Department is open 24 hours a day. To have expert knowledge with CRIS and PACS. Good communication skills - verbally to patients and carers, other health service staff both within the organisation and outside and written skills for communicating to other health service personnel. Must be able to liaise effectively with staff of all levels, to convey information about patients, diagnoses, equipment malfunction, technical aspects of scans etc Proven ability to communicate effectively with patients and carers, in order to obtain correct images. Able to communicate effectively and sensitively with highly stressed and emotional patients-especially newly diagnosed cancer patients in CT.
