A well-established and highly respected manufacturing business, known for producing high-quality products for the luxury interiors market, is seeking a Technical CAD / Product Development Engineer to join their growing team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and creative engineer with a passion for technical design and a strong understanding of metals and machining processes to contribute to a company that values craftsmanship, innovation, and collaboration.
The Role:
As a Technical CAD / Product Development Engineer, you will play a key part in the design and development of precision-engineered products, supporting the business from concept through to manufacture. You will work closely with production teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and meet the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Create and develop product designs using industry-standard CAD software.
2. Produce detailed technical drawings and manufacturing specifications.
3. Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and meet manufacturing capabilities.
4. Maintain high standards in technical documentation and design accuracy.
5. Contribute to product development projects with creative, technical input.
Requirements:
1. Proficiency in CAD software (AutoDesk Inventor is advantageous).
2. Solid understanding of metals and machining processes.
3. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
4. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
5. Alignment with values such as integrity, accountability, innovation, and a commitment to excellence.
Desirable but Not Essential:
1. Experience in AutoDesk Inventor and AutoDesk Vault.
2. Background in door and cabinet hardware design.
3. Experience with shop floor machining and manufacturing processes.
4. Knowledge of producing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical manufacturing documentation.
5. Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Benefits:
1. Up to 45,000 per year.
2. Mon-Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm.
3. Fridays 7:30am-12:30pm.
