The role will support the CateringManagers, Assistant Catering Managers & Production Managers,inproviding a safe,professionaland high-qualityservice. Producing nutritionally analysed dishes for patients,customersand other service users., they will work with the Facilities& Catering Managementto ensure a patient&customer centred and safety focused service.
The post holder willbe responsible forensuring that a high quality, customerfocusedand safe food service is provided to the Trust and external customers. The highest technicalcookeryand professional standards will be employed to meet the requirements of the Trust and Food Safety Act.
The post holder will be expected to recommend service improvements and cost savings to management, where there isclear evidenceto support the need for action. The post holder will support their teams with training and coachingappropriate correctiveaction where shortfalls in procedure and service become evident.
Main duties include :-
• Ensuring the unit is fully prepared for peak times.
• Implementing corrective action where necessary torevert backto the correct procedure. This will include reporting and recording maintenance requests for all areas of the department.
• Ensure all Health and Safety systems and procedures arecomplied withat all timesand any hazards areidentified, reported tomanagementand properly dealt with to reduce accidents.
• Plan and organise straightforward activities, some on-going/plan and organise complex activities or programmes requiring formulation/adjustment.
• Place orders for stock as per unit procedures adhering to assigned par levels.
• Cook and prepare food to standard recipes, using knives,utensilsand mechanical equipment.
• High levelof dexterityrequiredegpreparing food for deadlines, use of fine toolsegfor filleting/butchery.
• Ensuring that the highest possible level of customer service is delivered by all members of the catering team consistently to all customers, both internal and external.
• To ensure all the cleaning materials and disposables are used economically and that only chemicals provided by York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM)are usedin accordance withcleaning schedules and COSHH training.
• Toassistthe Production Manager with recruitment processes as and whenrequired.
