We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Patient Involvement to join us to provide strategic oversight and management of Cancer Research UK's involvement activity, as well as develop and deliver our involvement strategy to ensure CRUK meets its ambitions to put people affected by cancer at the heart of what we do and involve them in shaping our work as partners. What will I be doing? Lead on the development and delivery of the CRUK wide patient involvement strategy refresh, to encompass all areas of the organization that currently deploy or may benefit from patient involvement, including an evaluation plan to monitor the effectiveness and impact of the strategy. Oversee work on patient involvement across all areas of CRUK that would benefit from this across research, fundraising and policy, ensuring adherence to good practice. Oversee a strategic approach to the recruitment, and development of an engaged and inclusive network of people affected by cancer, with inspiring supporter journeys, regular communications and a learning plan, to ensure they have a consistently positive experience of working with us. Work in collaboration with volunteering / involvement teams internally and externally. Work closely with colleagues in Research and Innovation (R&I) to oversee the delivery of our researcher engagement strategy to inspire, upskill and support researchers to involve people affected by cancer in their work, this includes international research programmes like Cancer Grand Challenge, Research Data Strategy and Clinical trials. Provide functional leadership to the patient involvement team, leading a high performing team and ensuring that their time is prioritised effectively to focus on the areas of greatest impact Be the CRUK subject matter expert. Build and maintain a deep understanding of developments in involvement to position yourself and CRUK as a thought leader in this space. Working with leaders across CRUK to create opportunities for those close to cancer to get involved in our core activity. Influence via robust personal relationships combined with evidence-based insights. What skills are we looking for? Expertise of working with patients in an engagement or involvement role, sensitive to the demands of working with patients and ability to represent patients' views while achieving corporate and strategic goals. Knowledge of best practise in the areas of patient / volunteer engagement and journeys, involvement and consultation including impact measurement. Proven ability to build and maintain excellent rapport with others, developing productive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
