OVERVIEW
The Production Engineer plays a key role in meeting the expectation of the customer base and the business by contributing to the realisation of new contracts, the optimisation of current contracts and developing tools and techniques to increase the efficiency of the production operatives. You will be central to all things production looking to implement new processes and procedures that improve productivity, reduce waste, improve quality and safety, and reduce operating costs further branching into larger project-based work to achieve the same goals.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Identify and promote the use of new technology and new processes during component manufacture to ensure they are cost effective, and market leading.
2. Take a central part in the cost estimation and contract review process; ensuring accurate costs and processes are defined, feasibility is assessed and that all inspection methods are correctly identified to ensure components are consistently manufactured correctly.
3. Provide technical documentation (e.g. CAD/CAM files, set up sheets, tooling specifications, fixture references) when rolling out components into production.
4. Ensure all Health and Safety procedures are followed and highlight any risks to either yourself or others across the company.
5. Taking a hands-on approach, use LEAN techniques to reduce cost and waste always approaching tasks with a continual improvement mindset where you will introduce more effective production processes and procedures, automating processes where possible.
6. Technical point of contact for shop floor staff.
7. Collaborate with other team members to support manufacturing projects where necessary.
8. Tooling management.
9. Fixture design and manufacture.

EMPLOYMENT & EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
1. Extensive experience in 5 Axis and turning using CAD/CAM is essential.
2. Experience as a CNC Setter / Operator in a precision machining role is essential.
3. Experience and knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics/Business Central, SAP, ORACLE etc.) is desirable.
4. A minimum of HNC level of education in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience is essential.
