Location: Exeter - Hybrid Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 DoE The Role A leading design-and-build consultancy is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join a growing team delivering high-impact water and wastewater projects. With the company’s recent appointment to South West Water’s AMP8 framework, this role offers the chance to work on innovative schemes that enhance the resilience and sustainability of critical infrastructure for communities across the region. You’ll play a key role in shaping electrical design from feasibility through to commissioning, working collaboratively across disciplines to develop practical and future-focused solutions. Responsibilities Leading electrical engineering design across water and wastewater schemes Providing technical guidance to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations Collaborating with commercial, operational, and construction teams to deliver efficient and safe solutions Acting as technical reviewer and design checker across multiple projects Driving innovation through standardisation, digital tools, and sustainable approaches Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and statutory authorities to maintain strong working relationships Supporting and mentoring junior engineers to grow technical capability within the team Conducting site visits to assess constructability and integration with existing systems Requirements Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with a recognised institution Strong technical background in delivering electrical designs in infrastructure projects Proven ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience A collaborative and pragmatic approach to problem-solving Willingness to travel to project sites across the South West What's in it for you?
