CNC Toolmaker
You will be responsible for producing precision tools, moulds, and components using conventional, CNC and EDM machinery. This role requires strong technical expertise, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Tool Production: Design, manufacture, and maintain precision tools, jigs, and fixtures using a range of manual, EDM and CNC machines to produce deep draw press and plastic moulding tooling.
2. Programming: Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software to ensure efficient and accurate machining.
3. Machine Setup: Set up and operate CNC milling, turning, grinding, and other machinery as required, ensuring proper tool alignment and machine calibration.
4. Inspection and Quality Control: Use precision measuring instruments (e.g. micrometres, callipers, gauges) to inspect finished products and ensure they meet specifications and tolerances.
5. Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve machining and tooling issues to maintain quality and efficiency in production.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, production teams, and other toolmakers to optimize processes and achieve production goals.
Required Experience
1. Qualified/Time served engineer with relevant experience
2. CNC machining (Lathe and Miller)
3. Manual machining
Preferred Experience
1. Tool Maker: 4 years
2. EDM machining (Wire and Die Sink)
3. Use of CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks preferable)
Wage and Hours
1. Job Type: Full-time
2. Expected hours: 40 Hours per week (following induction period)
3. Wage: £16.70 minimum + shift rate (Rate of pay depending on experience)
4. Schedule: Starting day shift for induction period, rotating early and back shift following induction.
5. Day Shift: 7:30-15:30 Monday-Thursday, 7:30-14:30 Friday
6. Early shift: 6:00-14:00 Monday-Friday
7. Back shift: 14:00-22:00 Monday-Friday
