The opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Market Underwriter to join our Property/Casualty team. Working predominately with our brokers the ideal candidate will provide underwriting expertise and first-class service to brokers and customers, with a proven track record of delivering profitable growth, managing complex portfolios, building strong business relationships and meeting business objectives.
This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.
What will you be doing?
As the Senior Underwriter, you will work closely and will have the opportunity to mentor and coach other Underwriter’s in the team. Collaboration and communication are critical in this role. You will be working with internal colleagues and teams to drive initiatives and deliverables aimed at the Property and Casualty market, as well as delivering on the external facing element of the role, meeting and building relationships with external brokers and policyholders within the market.
You will bring product expertise and market insight to develop the UK Property and Casualty business that meets the customers’ needs. As part of this role the successful candidate will have the opportunity to be the lead underwriter on some of our largest accounts and we are looking for someone who has the experience or the potential to have and build relationships direct with our broker network. We would like someone who can balance the internal and external demands to obtain the best result for Zurich.
Key responsibilities:
1. Develop profitable business with a group of brokers & customers.
2. Manage clients and leading broker relationships interacting with risk managers.
3. Responsible for overall service proposition on key broker accounts.
4. Underwrite and negotiate insurance contracts.
5. Demonstrate knowledge of relevant systems, products, processes and procedures to be able to provide a first class experience for Customers (both internal and external).
6. Ongoing self-development and learning, coaching others where appropriate.
7. Promote continuous improvement and process efficiency.
8. Contribute to a positive and supportive team culture.
What are we looking for?
Ideally, you will be an experienced Property/Casualty Underwriter looking for that next step or a new challenge at a large, global insurer. Strong communication and influencing skills are needed so we would like you to be able to demonstrate this. We are also looking for someone to bring their expertise and help us grow, so knowledge and understanding of industry trends is a must for us. We would also expect you to have CII qualifications or to have made good progress.
