About the Role
This role will be working within BHP Metals Exploration, part of the world’s largest integrated resources company, who are moving into an exciting period of sustainable growth and development.
As the Principal Operations Europe & Africa, your purpose is to contributes to the safe planning, scheduling, execution and review of field operations that meet productivity targets. This includes sampling and/or drilling programs and influences to enable high performance.
Reporting to Manager Operations, your key deliverable include:
* Develops plans and schedules for geoscience operations activities, implements updates and corrective measures for non-compliances and effectively communicates these to impacted stakeholders to enable contracts and activities to be completed within their relevant time horizon.
* Engage and manage our contractors though our contractor management framework.
* Design, plan and support the execution of field work compliant to our risk management framework.
* Work collaboratively with the Functions to ensure compliance to land access, tenure and HSE regulation.
* Cost control of approved project level budgets (project cards).
* Contribution to continuous improvement initiatives that allow our activities to be performed safer and more cost effectively, maximising our in-ground spend.
About You
As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
* Demonstrated relevant experience in minerals exploration. With relevant experience in Africa a bonus.
* Experience with execution of remote exploration projects including drilling, geophysics and camp support.
* Experience in supervision of drilling and geophysics and exploration camp management.
* Qualification in geology or health and safety related discipline.
* Strong knowledge of warehousing, logistics, remote supply chain and drill core management.
* Good understanding of individual exploration project scale budget control.
* Well verse with HSE compliance and risk management.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skill and the ability to engage stakeholders as well as contractors’ management.
While not mandatory, but highly regard should the candidate also possess.
* Qualification in project management.
* Experience drilling or acquiring geophysics.
