Job overview
We are a telephone triage service who identifies a young person's emotional wellbeing and mental health needs to direct them to the most appropriate support service. We listen and advise families and other professionals with evidence based advice and information.
We are looking for experienced clinicians who are passionate about young people's mental health. You will have experience and knowledge in working with children and young people, an understanding of mental illness, child development and treatment pathways.
You will have a core profession; Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or other Allied Health Professional.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities of the post:
1. NHS 111 - taking calls, triaging and signposting
2. Business As Usual - telephone triages
3. Screening - reviewing referrals to determine if triage is required
You should have a wide range of knowledge in approaches to communicating and managing care with families, children and young people.
Have excellent communication skills and be able to engage and control a conversation eliciting key information pertinent to the purpose of the call. This requires confidence and active listening.
Be proficient in computer and IT skills.

Probationary Period: This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period.
Starting with NELFT: NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Single Point of Access operates between 08:00 and 18:00 and offers flexible working patterns to meet your needs and the needs of the service in line with the Trust blended working model. With 80% office & 20% agile/remote working to support your health and wellbeing.
The SPA receives, and directs referrals from across Kent and Medway providing advice, information, consultation and support to all referrers and a range of other local services.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Successful completion of a graduate training (e.g. nursing, social work, occupational therapy) or equivalent substantial CAMHS clinical experience
* To be eligible for registration as a full member of the appropriate professional body (e.g. HCPC, NMC) where appropriate
* Clinical practice in the assessment and treatment of young people
* Minimum 4 years experience
* Previous practice working in CYPMHS or related child health wellbeing service
* Previous experience in risk assessment and risk management
Experience
* Experience of working with difficult, disturbed or challenging children/young people requiring skilled and complex interventions
* Experience of working therapeutically with parents/carers/families of children and young people with complex mental health problems
* Experience of using observation to contribute to assessments of children.
* Experience of assessment carried out autonomously to determine the most appropriate treatment plan.
* Experience of providing individual interventions with a wide variety of children and young people, from 3 to 19 years old.
Knowledge
* An awareness of NHS Plan, NSF and clinical governance priorities
* Knowledge of child and adolescent mental health and mental health disorders
* Knowledge in identifying safeguarding concerns
Skills
* High level communication skills
* The ability to consider the young person systemically
* Demonstrate confidence and eagerness to learn
