My Client is looking to add a Research Analyst to their team based in the City of London.
This would be 3 days a week onsite.
Analyst - Risk Quantification
We need to expand capacity to maintain and grow our work in bespoke scoring and indices. Specifically, we need support in the following areas to carry out our mandate:
1. Work on standing products (Country Risk Scores, CRIM, etc); ongoing bespoke scoring project components (e.g., Human Rights Scores); and SOI and related index consulting projects.
This person will:
1. Be able to calculate indices and scores according to established methodologies.
2. Be able to interpret and write about data for analysis that goes on Connect and for bespoke projects, including special reports and methodology documentation.
3. Convene and foster collaboration with economists and analysts across GIA to produce analysis in line with other teams, including proposing subjects, narratives, and themes and executing on the team's research agenda.
4. Be able to gain an in-depth understanding of existing methodologies and processes to assist in enforcing their application with economists and analysts.
5. Perform quality assurance checks on existing universe of risk scores to assess risk forecast accuracy and backtesting of forecasts, including use of statistical methods.
Qualifications:
1. Background with/interest in economics, economic policy, international political economy, geopolitical risk.
2. Training or experience in a quantitative subject, such as econometrics, quantitative research methods, and/or index building.
3. Strong qualitative analytical skills, analytical writing, and interpretation of data.
4. Strong communication skills, including managing stakeholders.
5. Good at working in teams, collaborative environment.
6. Client-facing experience and/or commercial experience preferred.
7. EViews, R, Python experience preferred.
