Procurement Lead – ESD Glasgow Galliford Try are now looking for a Procurement Lead to join our ESD Joint Venture team to be based out of our Glasgow office. This role holds the responsibility for the supply chain and procurement function for a £900m portfolio of ESD projects for Scottish Water. You will lead the procurement strategy and processes within the joint venture utilising Galliford Try systems and collaborating across the joint venture partners and Scottish Water. What you will be doing: You will establish best practice for all supply chain and procurement activities through actively engaging with the supply chain, the ESD senior leaders, procurement team and the other functional teams. You will ensure that ESD develops and implements strategies, processes, and procedures to enable us to deliver for our clients, supporting the development of a strong and aligned supply chain to improve our delivery performance. Whilst conducting your role you will promote ESD and overarching company values, developing strong and professional relationships that will enable us to strengthen our relationships with our supply chain and other key stakeholders. You will also build strong and professional working relationships with all key stakeholders across ESD. Key Responsibilities: Provide senior leadership and manage a mixed parent company procurement and supply chain team within the ESD joint venture and be the focal point and functional lead of all procurement and supply chain activity. Use your experience, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills to engage, lead and implement a wide range of procurement and supply chain strategies. Raise the profile and strategic direction of the function across within ESD. Define, develop, and implement robust Supply Chain Management and Procurement strategies and action plans. Establish, communicate, and manage the requisition-to-purchase process, ensuring compliance with ESD processes, policies, and procedures. Manage the purchasing of material and plant processes and sub-contract services, including the method of selection for suppliers, the negotiation of supply contracts and service standards ensuring fully compliant and timely orders are in place to meet business / project needs and objectives. Develop and implement the C-Link digital supply chain and procurements system to drive efficiency. Liaise & interface with key purchasers and related parties to achieve best practice from the supply chain. Establish a structured process for supporting bids and operational teams on projects. Establish and monitor supply chain demand planning across the Business Unit. Manage the preparation and maintenance of procurement plans and schedules to assist in the identification of cost saving opportunities. Ensure the effective use of the ESD supplier approval and performance measurement system. Ensure the resolution of supplier performance issues and disputes, including direct involvement as necessary in any significant disputes. Develop relationships with key suppliers to drive efficiency and effectiveness through the supply chain. Ensure proactive support of procurement initiatives including attendance at collaborative workshops and buying forums as required. Ensure examples of best practice and added value by procurement are captured and recorded regularly. Set up & manage regular meetings with key stakeholders to ensure project procurement needs are consistently met. Understand the required forms of contract for the placing of vendor orders and vendors’ similar responsibilities as those required under the lead contact. Monitor the use of Client Supplier Framework agreements. Advise on team development needs for current and future roles that are required. Satisfy customer requirements with the aim of enhancing the customers’ perception and satisfaction. Understand GT internal procurement systems and Orbit costing/ordering system and advise JV colleagues as required to facilitate smooth procurement operations. About you: High level of commercial awareness and excellent negotiation skills. Extensive subcontract procurement experience inc NEC3 and/or NEC4. Ability to build, lead and motivate a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High levels of energy and enthusiasm with the ability to motivate and instil this in others. Proficient people management and leadership skills Strong partnering credentials. Ability to work to tight deadlines, manage time efficiently, plan and prioritise work activities. Senior management experience of purchasing and/or supply chain management. Previous experience in an Engineering, Technical or Procurement discipline. Computer literate with knowledge/experience of Microsoft suite i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
