Job Summary:
Assisting with the day to day organisation and operation of the club and deputising for the After School Manager.
Responsibilities:
1. Deputising for the Breakfast/After School Managers including assisting in the management and organisation of a team of Deputy Leaders and play workers.
2. Responsibility for managing a room of Year R to Year 3 children under the After School Club Manager.
3. Ensuring the delivery of creative play opportunities in a safe and caring environment, including assisting the After School Club Manager with planning and liaising with the other room leader.
4. Providing full care for the children including providing refreshments within the allocated room.
5. Preparation of activities and organisation of programmes with Breakfast and After School Managers.
6. Assisting with day to day administration, record keeping, updating registers, maintaining contact details, and taking casual bookings.
7. Assisting the EYFS Lead for the Ark, overseeing EYFS observations, ensuring that The Ark’s Tapestry account is kept up to date and training staff in this area.
8. Assisting with ordering and purchasing materials and equipment working within an agreed budget.
9. Assisting with carrying out inductions, supervisions, appraisals, and training for team members.
10. Supporting the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new team members with the After School/Breakfast Manager.
11. Helping with parental involvement and support of the club by creating social media posts and contributing to newsletters.
12. Collecting items including food and resources from Winchester if requested by the Manager.
13. Administering first aid in accordance with parental consent forms.
14. Promoting parental involvement and support of the club.
15. Supporting close liaison with parents and the school.
16. Assisting the Breakfast and After School Manager to ensure the adherence to welfare requirements including child protection, equal opportunities, and special needs.
17. Assisting the Business Manager and Volunteer Directors to comply with or exceed the relevant legal requirements.
18. Maintaining and working within agreed policies.
19. Attending meetings/training sessions.
Essential for the post:
1. A minimum of two years’ experience of working with 4 to 11 year olds.
2. Knowledge of the EYFS.
3. An NVQ level 2 in Childcare or Playwork (or equivalent).
4. Ability to provide and facilitate safe, creative play.
5. Ability to communicate at all levels.
6. Experience of administration.
7. Ability to lead and work as part of a team.
8. Ability to work on own initiative.
9. Ability to use judgement and common sense.
10. Willingness to attend training sessions.
11. Excellent organisational skills and ability to use IT systems (email, Excel, and Word).
12. Able to interact well with children, parents, and team members and to build a strong working relationship with the school.
13. Be creative with good knowledge of a range of recreational and physical past-time activities for children to participate in.
Desirable for the post:
1. A current first aid certificate.
2. Previous leadership experience.
