We have an exciting opportunity to join our client’s expanding team in Essex, as a Commercial Vehicle IVI and DI Systems Engineer.
Please note that the successful candidate will need to hold a full UK driving licence, as the role will potentially include travel within the UK for launch / supplier support and testing.
Please note that this role will not start until January 2025.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the team meetings with Finance, Cost Estimating, Commodity- and Program Purchasing.
* Provide the engineering perspective for supplier selection by purchase.
* Prepare Engineering Statement of Work, and support cost negotiations between Purchasing and Supplier.
* Adhere to GPDS process and related program timings & document deliverables.
* Support Program Reviews.
* Ensure compliance to all applicable requirements.
* Support Global Core teams with initiatives from Benchmarking events.
* Agile software delivery of software collaborated with in-house/external supplier for IVI and DI parts.
* Liaise and support work streams and pre Series builds.
* Drive issue resolution process.
* Participate in supplier engagement process and support.
* Provide sign-off of related components.
* Support/Lead investigation of requested changes in terms of technical feasibility, cost and timing.
* Ensure appropriate change management and status reporting for requested changes.
* Ensure quality objectives and robustness targets are met and that lessons learned are encompassed in future designs.
* Support issue resolution during series production.
* Lead OPD, Quality Improvement and Cost Reduction Programs.
* Support program launch activities to meet program requirements.
Essential Experience & Skills:
* Competent in engineering tools.
* Experience within a similar role within the automotive industry.
* Competent using office applications such as Excel, Outlook, Project, and Word.
* Strong communication and presentation skills.
* Ability to demonstrate use of initiative, perseverance and liaison skills.
* Excellent analytical and strategic skills.
* Project management skills with a thorough attention to detail.
* Strong communication and presentation and team skills.
* Experience of working within global teams.
* Strong IT skills.
* Full UK driving licence.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
* Electrical/Electronics/Computing Degree.
* Knowledge of vehicle Electrical Systems and Components is an advantage.
Education Required:
* Engineering Degree.
Hours, Location & Additional Information:
* Rate - £29.52 per hour, increasing to £35.65 after initial probation period of 13 weeks.
* 37.5 hours.
* 12 month contract.
* Hybrid / Onsite Essex.
* Position confirmed inside IR35.
