The Company
The company is a well-established, thriving manufacturer and distributor of electrical products, including wiring accessories, LED lighting, safety alarms, and cables. It incorporates the brands Deta, Tower, Vimark, Brackenheath, Briticent, and Deta.e. DETA’s products are specified by major housing developers and distributed through electrical wholesale, merchants, and many DIY retailers. DETA continues to grow strongly and has a UK turnover of over £85m.
JOB SCOPE
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Developing electrical products in liaison with manufacturing partners, establishing product specifications, writing product briefs, determining applicable standards, and assessing samples.
2. Testing and coordinating external testing of products in development, investigating any product problems.
3. Establishing product and packaging labelling and marking requirements, including packaging labels, product instruction leaflets, and data sheets.
4. Collaborating with the Quality Team to investigate product problems, report findings, and manage product improvements with partner factories.
5. Ensuring products comply with relevant BS EN safety standards and directives, including EMC, REACH, and RoHS.
6. Producing and maintaining technical literature such as product specifications, packaging specifications, instruction leaflets, and data sheets.
7. Maintaining up-to-date technical support files, including WEEE and packaging weight data.
Skills Required
The candidate should have:
1. Education in an Engineering discipline with an electrical or electronics focus.
2. An understanding of manufacturing processes, product standards, and a quality approach to problem-solving.
3. The ability to identify product features and benefits.
4. Knowledge of electrical product applications and electrical installation practices, including work on building sites (beneficial).
5. Ideally, knowledge of British/European Standards and legislation related to DETA’s products.
6. Experience collaborating remotely with offshore factories.
7. Ideally, knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
