Lancashire County Council provides catering services to over 500 schools across Lancashire, serving over 60,000 school meals daily. We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team. Role Overview: As the Unit Catering Supervisor at Lancaster Our Lady's High School, you will oversee the catering team to deliver high-quality, nutritious meals to secondary school students. Key Responsibilities: Order food and materials from designated suppliers to ensure service delivery. Allocate tasks and supervise the catering team to meet client requirements. Contribute to the development of LCC's menus and pricing, adhering to service standards and cost specifications. Collaborate with the Service Improvement Manager to maintain a high-quality service. Assist the Operations Manager in staff recruitment, staffing level management, and performance management. Work alongside clients in a friendly, caring and professional manner to fulfil their service requirements. Manage stock levels, produce monthly stock returns, and complete relevant weekly and monthly reports for the head office or school office. Host planned promotions and additional catering activities as directed. Maintain kitchen and food hygiene standards, ensuring health and safety compliance. Account for customer payments, returning funds to the school or bank on behalf of the organization. Attend meetings and training sessions as required. Qualifications and Skills: Proven ability to lead and supervise a catering team. Capacity to work under pressure and use initiative. Excellent customer care skills. Previous experience in catering, food preparation, and supervisory roles is essential. Working Hours: Monday to Friday, term time only. 32.5 hours per week, with variable hours depending on school meal uptake. Flexibility to work additional hours during inset days and open events.
