Year 7 Teaching Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate KS3 Teaching Assistant to join the dynamic team at a client secondary school based in Stretford.
The successful candidate will work closely with Year 7 students to support their reading skills and foster a love for literature. This role involves assisting the English department in delivering engaging reading activities, providing one-on-one support to students who require extra help, and contributing to the development of literacy initiatives within the school.
The position is due to start after the October half term, in November and will run until the end of the academic year (until July 2025).
Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the English department to create and implement reading programs that cater to the diverse needs of students.
* Provide individualized support to Year 7 students who require assistance with reading comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary development.
* Assist in the organization and maintenance of the school’s library, ensuring that it is a welcoming and resourceful space for students.
* Contribute to the planning and execution of literacy events, such as book fairs, author visits, and reading challenges.
* Monitor and assess students’ progress in reading, keeping detailed records and communicating effectively with teachers and parents.
Qualifications:
* A passion for literature and a strong belief in the importance of fostering reading skills in young people.
* Experience working with secondary school students in an educational or mentoring capacity.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
* An understanding of different teaching strategies and resources that can support students’ reading development.
* Relevant qualifications or training in education, literacy support, or a related field would be advantageous.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
