In this role you will be responsible for the Purchasing of goods, materials and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, considering price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply. This role has greater responsibility and accountability than a Junior Buyer and could include some team mentoring. The job holder may lead on responsibility for a specific project and will support on larger areas of spend in terms of purchasing responsibility. Responsibilities Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations Work closely with others in procurement to ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible Work closely with others in procurement to negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods Explore alternate sources for goods and materials Work closely with others in procurement to assess tenders and quotations from potential suppliers Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules Work closely with others in the procurement function to undertake research on and evaluate existing and new suppliers Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues Work collaboratively and negotiate and engage with stakeholders and suppliers regarding new projects. Mentor and coach the Junior Buyer to enhance their career and professional development Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues Any other duties as required About You Qualifications GCSE or equivalent Maths & English (A-C) Skills and competencies Essential Experience of working closely with suppliers & stakeholders Good knowledge of negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills. Analytical, numerically astute with proven problem-solving abilities Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines Commercially and financially aware. Desirable Proven purchasing experience, preferably within an aviation or manufacturing environment Personal Attributes Must be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK Ability to commit to occasional national travel Due to the location of our office a driving license and own transport is required.
