The ideal candidate is an IR with a wide range of procedural skills covering both vascular and non-vascular IR, and who would like to work in a friendly medium sized Foundation Trust in a beautiful part of the country, where a healthy work/life balance can be achieved. At the same time, you will be involved in providing a first-class standard of care to your patients, whilst further developing the IR service. The post holder will join a cohesive group of 12 substantive consultant radiologists and radiology trainees from the Wessex Training Scheme.
If you reside outside of Dorset and join us in this role you will receive a Warm Welcome payment of £10,000 as a thank you for bringing your expertise and knowledge to our Trust in addition to the usual relocation expenses.
If you have been referred to this role by a current DCHFT employee (and you currently reside outside of Dorset) your friend can also receive a referral payment – make sure to include this at the start of your supporting information and include your friend's full name. The Interventional Radiology Department at Dorset County Hospital is progressive and patient-outcome focused. We have a very close and dynamic relationship with our referring teams from all over the hospital. The IR department currently consists of 3 WTE Consultants, and this post replaces a colleague who is retiring. A weekly timetable will include 3-4 sessions of IR with internal cover for annual leave, together with some reporting sessions which can be tailored to individual experience and specialist interests. Attendance at appropriate MDTs that complement specialist interests is strongly encouraged.
There is no out of hours IR on site. We have outsourced all out of hours CT (20:00 - 09:00 weekdays and 17:00-09:00 weekends), to an external reporting company. The post holder will be expected when on-call to cover non IR emergencies until 20:00 weekdays, and between 09:00-17:00 when on-call at the weekend as part of the on-call rota which is currently a 1:11 with internal cover.
The department has an essential role in the Trusts strategic direction and is part of the Dorset Imaging Clinical Network. The department holds Quality Standard for Imaging Accreditation (QSI).
The post attracts 10 PAs in total, which includes on-call and 1.5 SPAs for research, CPD, audit and appraisal/revalidation preparation.
