Summary
We are looking for talented teaching assistants to join our growing team of staff. The primary role of the Teaching Assistant is to support the class teacher to enhance pupils’ learning either in groups or individually, ensuring pupils understand the work set, know their learning objectives and stay on task in order to make progress.
Wage
£12,759.50 a year
Please be aware, this is a term time only position and salary is pro rata. Apprentices will be required to work 39 weeks per year not 52. Actual salary: £9287/annum

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

* To support on a one-to-one basis or in groups
* To feel comfortable and confident with very diverse learners
* To assist the class teacher and/or Senior TA with record keeping

Your training plan
* Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
* NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning
* Functional Skills in maths and English at Level 2, if required (exemptions apply)
* The training provider in partnership with the employer will follow the scheme of work to provide all necessary learning in the work place to fulfil the requirements of the employer's occupational brief
* Functional Skills in ICT at Level 2 will also be included in college days
* Delivery will take place weekly at either Taunton or Bridgwater campus

Other requirements
Pro rata salary, 39 week instead of 52. Additionally, under the overall direction of teaching staff the job may include some or all of the following duties, depending on the needs of pupils: To hold (or work toward the holding of) a first aid qualification Where a current First Aid qualification is held, in the absence of other medical facilities: Dispense medicines in accordance with school policy. Undertake First Aid. Under the direction of Health Service professionals, undertake activities in support of occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech therapy. Under the direction of teaching staff monitor the achievements of targets set out on the pupils’ IEP. Where appropriate to work with pupil groups, using a range of strategies to gain acceptance and inclusion of our pupils. To be aware of and comply with the Federation Health and Safety and Child Protection reporting procedures.
