Job Summary:
The Senior Family Support Worker is responsible for delivering high-quality support to families experiencing difficulties, including emotional, practical, and financial challenges. This role includes managing a caseload, offering advice and guidance, and helping families access services and resources. The Senior Family Support Worker will also mentor and supervise junior staff or volunteers, ensuring effective delivery of family support services.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct support to families, helping them overcome difficulties and improve their well-being.
Manage a caseload of families, conducting assessments and creating action plans to address their needs.
Work in partnership with other professionals, including social workers, health practitioners, and community organizations.
Offer practical and emotional support, signposting to appropriate services such as housing, mental health services, or parenting programs.
Mentor and supervise junior staff or volunteers, ensuring they follow best practices and support family goals effectively.
Monitor progress, maintaining accurate records and case documentation.
Advocate on behalf of families, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience in family support, social care, or a related field.
Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to assess needs and develop practical support plans.
Understanding of safeguarding practices and child protection procedures.
Team leadership and mentoring skills (desirable).
Empathy and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with families.
