A fantastic SEND school in West Cumbria are seeking a class teacher to join their friendly and supportive team from September 2024.
The school are specialised to cater for pupils with autism, and they require a teacher to work with secondary aged pupils, with particular emphasis on leading English. The pupils are of mixed ability, working from GCSE level but also functional skills and ASDAN, whilst also differentiating for pupils working at Key Stage 2 level.
The school has fantastic on-site facilities for children with autism, and class sizes are small - with a maximum of 6 pupils per class, and with 2-3 support staff in every classroom too. The role will involve predominantly teaching English across different ability secondary aged classes in the mornings, with the afternoons dedicated to more cross-curricular, topic-based learning.
Experienced or recently qualified teachers are open to apply to this role, either primary or secondary-trained - alongside QTS, the main requirements from the school is a genuine interest in working with children with autism, and a willingness to support their pupils to the best of their ability.
The position will be on a long term basis with a permanent opportunity becoming available later in the year for the right candidate - and MPS paid to scale with SEN allowance available too.
