The role of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician will be to support production and improvement activities in this fast-moving and changing manufacturing facility.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
1. First response to breakdowns as part of a maintenance team covering designated process streams.
2. Manage and supervise the daily maintenance in all operational areas to ensure a safe and efficient production performance is delivered.
3. Lead the team in resolving mid- and long-term improvement activities to maintain and improve plant and facility performance.
4. Provide direction and leadership to the team to meet equipment overall production reliability (OPR) and quality objectives. Improving existing facilities once installed incorporating new methods and processes.
5. Ability to manage several complex maintenance work streams and projects with critical path interdependencies.
6. Fault finding and diagnosis across a variety of manufacturing processes and facilities including multiple control systems.
7. Lead and support problem-solving activities for manufacturing facilities and process equipment.
8. Planning and undertaking total productive maintenance (TPM) and preventative maintenance (PM) activities.
9. Lead and implement continuous improvements of equipment and processes.
10. Have the knowledge and physical ability to work in a clean and dry room environment.
11. Liaising with the operations team to prioritise tasks and working through these as required.
12. Ability to go through engineering drawings/schematics to order parts etc.
13. Ensure correct use of the stores' system is adhered to.
Knowledge, skills, and experience
1. Ideally served an indentured apprenticeship in electrical/mechanical or engineering discipline.
2. Ideally qualified to ONC/HNC/HND Level 3.
3. Experience in Automation, PLC, and Robot Applications (ideally). Applicants should have a high level of technical, mechanical, and automation engineering skills in an engineering or process operational facility.
4. The ability to lead, and to work as part of a team is essential, as is the ability to achieve results by meeting deliverables/commitments.
5. Experience in project management, process improvement, and strategy development.
6. A good understanding of lean principles, TPM, and kaizen processes.
7. Good verbal communication skills, including active listening and the ability to understand complex technical information including technical drawings.
8. Experience of maintenance in high-speed/precision environments.
9. Organisational skills for scheduling maintenance tasks and ensuring job completion.
10. Ability to read engineering drawings.
11. Experience of working in and leading a team.
12. Technical understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control systems for planning and troubleshooting.
13. Good understanding of regulatory requirements related to plant and equipment.
