JOB TITLE: Legal Advisor LOCATION: ( hybrid) - Manchester, London, Leeds, Birmingham, Reading CONTRACT: Perm SALARY Flexible Benefits Summary NG Bailey Group Limited is recruiting for a new full - time member of its in-house legal team, to provide support to NG Bailey Group Limited’s various divisions, with particular emphasis on providing legal support for construction and engineering projects. This role requires a legal professional with upwards of at least 4 years post qualified experience in a construction law related environment, and preferably with experience of working as part of an in-house legal team. The candidate can have experience in either non-contentious construction law or in construction dispute resolution. In order to support on disputes, the role will invo lve advising and strategizing on issues that arise under construction contracts, both upstream and downstream for the Engineering and Services divisions of NG Bailey, drafting notices and correspondence to support in contract administ ration and the management of issues in order to avoid and resolve disputes, managing the collation and substantiation of claims and defences once disputes have arisen, and managing adjudications and Court Proceedings (along with external legal support). In order to support on contract negotiations, the role will involve reviewing, advising, drafting and negotiating construction contracts ( mainly based on NEC, JCT and FIDIC standard forms) and ancillary documents such as professional appointments, supply contracts, bonds, guarantees and warranties, and support for the commercial teams in their negotiation. The successful candidate will also require experience of managing and advising on risks and contractual issues during the course of a project. The candidate should have some experience in providing commercial advice and support on other commercial contracts (to support NG B ailey’s central teams) and preferably with some experience of dealing with GDPR issues. The candidate will be based at one of NG Bailey’s main offices (Manchester, London, Leeds, Birmingham, Reading) but appropriate travel to other offices and sites to advise the NG Bailey businesses will be a regular part of the role. Business mileage and other travel expenses will be paid in accordance with NG Bailey’s Group expenses policies, as updated from time to time. What We’re Looking For 4 years PQE experience in the field of construction law (contentious or non-contentious) Legal or construction professional UK graduate level qualifications required Strong drafting and negotiating skills The ability to work independently and pro-actively whilst being an important part of a small legal team.
