Job summary We are looking for a full time/part-time permanent Ward Clerk/Receptionist to support the medical and nursing team in the administration of patient care in the Critical Care Department. The critical care department is based at both the Royal Hallamshire and Northern General hospitals and the team work flexibly in covering the service at both hospitals. Main duties of the job As part of the team you would be responsible for the maintenance of patient records, computer data input and general clerical duties. There will also be a responsibility to staff the main reception area of the Critical Care building at NGH. In this role it will be necessary to liaise with other departments throughout the hospital and be responsible for greeting and managing visitors to the units. Applicants will be educated to GCSE level, including English at grade 4/ C or above (or equivalent) and have significant clerical experience working with the public. The applicant will work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have a high regard for confidentiality. Previous NHS experience, an NVQ 2 in Business Administration and previous experience with computers and Hospital Administration Systems are desirable.
