Our Client has a requirement for a Planning Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract based in Glasgow.
Role Purpose:
As a Planning Engineer (PMO Scheduling Specialist), you will apply schedule management expertise independently in complex environments across P3M. Your primary responsibility will involve preparing and maintaining integrated schedules of project and/or programme activities and events, considering dependencies and resource requirements.
Job Role Responsibilities:
Major Tasks and Activities:
* Develop, implement, and maintain project structures (WBS/OBS/RBS/CBS).
* Develop, baseline, and maintain integrated project schedules (Level 1-3).
* Ensure alignment between scheduling and financial/material demand toolsets, including Level 4/5 schedules.
* Regularly update the integrated schedule, providing metrics like critical path/total float and analyzing schedule impacts.
* Create resource/cost-loaded schedules to inform the IBP and provide financial status updates.
Additional Accountabilities:
* Provide monthly schedule risk analysis updates.
* Include key milestones and regularly report status.
* Conduct critical path analysis on integrated schedules.
* Record project progress in schedules, communicate results, and recommend corrective actions.
* Use Earned Value Analysis (EVA) techniques to report project performance and corrective actions.
* Lead interactive planning workshops and rolling wave (lookahead) meetings.
* Ensure alignment of schedules with project budgets, forecasts, and Estimates at Completion (EACs).
* Support commercial change processes and manage schedule impacts due to changes.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
Experience:
* Extensive experience in schedule management within a complex environment.
* Familiarity with various contracting methodologies (e.g., FIDIC/NEC3/JCT).
* Advanced expertise with scheduling tools such as Primavera or Microsoft Project (MSP).
* Experience in quantitative risk analysis and forensic planning.
* Full project lifecycle experience, from bid phase to close-out.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering, project/construction management, or a related field.
* Professional qualification (e.g., APM, Acoste, RICS) or equivalent.
Technical Skills:
* Proficient in schedule management, resource management, and governance arrangements.
* Competent in budgeting, cost control, contract management, and change control processes.
