Key Purpose:
The Scrum Master will guide and coach the team in the effective use of Scrum, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and self-organization. They will ensure adherence to Scrum principles, maximize value delivery, and cultivate a positive and productive work environment.
Accountabilities:
1. Facilitate Scrum Events: Lead Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective meetings, ensuring they are productive, time-boxed, and achieve their intended outcomes.
2. Empower the Development Team: Coach the team in self-organization, cross-functionality, and continuous improvement, promoting ownership and effective collaboration.
3. Support the Product Owner: Assist in maintaining a healthy Product Backlog, ensuring clear communication of product vision, goals, and priorities.
4. Remove Impediments: Proactively identify and resolve obstacles that hinder the team’s progress, escalating issues when necessary.
5. Champion Scrum Adoption: Promote Scrum values and principles within the team and organization, advocating for its benefits and addressing misconceptions.
Experience, Knowledge, and Capability Requirements:
Proven Experience:
6. 2+ years as a Scrum Master for a software development team delivering successful software solutions.
7. Proficiency in applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
8. Familiarity with agile methodologies such as Kanban, XP, or Lean; experience with agile scaling frameworks (e.g., LeSS, SAFe) is advantageous.
9. Certified Scrum Master / Professional Scrum Master qualifications preferred; experience in the utility or water sector desirable.
Scrum Mastery:
10. Deep understanding of Scrum principles, values, and practices.
11. Ability to guide and coach teams in self-organization and effective Scrum event facilitation.
12. Skill in identifying and resolving impediments, shielding the team from distractions.
