Our client, the UK's trusted Ministry of Defence partner, is seeking an experienced Information Systems Solution Architect. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining, implementing, and adapting the client's Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and Information Systems (IS) strategy to meet the needs of the business and its users. This role is based in Stevenage. As an Information Systems Solution Architect, the successful candidate has responsibilities for supporting and deploying business applications, with IS Engineering supporting a key pillar of our business. The IS Engineering Solutions teamwork as part of IS to support programmes and transformation activities. Key Responsibilities : The development team will deliver a new project, an end-to-end lab environment utilising Cloud technology. The aim is to have a dynamically sized, easily duplicated environment with a copy of our production engineering tool-set with representative data. The Information Systems Integration Lead will be responsible for deploying this new environment and managing the tool-sets deployed. Provide Systems Engineering processes/life-cycle subject matter expertise and advice at all stages. Investigate the appropriate application solutions for all the programme needs in the application layer, working closely with the Infrastructure Architect. Accountable for the technical quality of the solution Lead Business Case creation Participate in agile scrums where adopted Assist in the creation of a feasible project Propose or validate key technical solutions and lead design reviews Ensure all solution risks are identified and mitigated Gather and disseminate technical lessons learned and contribute to the action plan for agreed improvements, leading the technical actions. Lead research studies and proof of concept/proof of value activities if required What do you need?: Essential - Designing technical solutions to meet business needs within security constraints Essential - Documenting designs clearly from an architectural Advantageous - Deploying services within Azure Advantageous - The life-cycle of information systems, including acquisition and development of new technology, with a view on utilising automation Advantageous - UNIX and containerisation Advantageous - Application integration approaches, e.g., use of OLSC Advantageous - Awareness of industry infrastructure and operating standards such as SQL, DB2, Active Directory, Virtual Machines, WebSphere Possessing a broad level of technical IT knowledge and expertise, particularly in developing concepts and scoping enterprise systems and services, with a focus on integrating disparate and distributed solutions in a defence environment. Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills and proven abilities in business analysis and project management. Capable of articulating technical information to diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing, across all company levels, and effectively communicating problems and solutions in business language.
