About the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Head of Computer Science to lead and inspire a fantastic Secondary computer science department. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and innovative leader to shape the future of computer science education at a successful school and make a real impact on the students' learning and development.
As Head of Computer Science, you will take on a key leadership role, driving the strategic vision of the department while ensuring the delivery of high-quality education in computer science. You will lead a dynamic team of teachers and work collaboratively with senior leadership to enhance the curriculum, improve student outcomes, and foster a love for technology and digital innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead, develop, and manage the Computer Science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
• Develop and implement a forward-thinking computer science curriculum that is engaging, challenging, and aligned with the needs of all students.
• Inspire and motivate the team, providing guidance, professional development, and support to staff members.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress and attainment, ensuring effective interventions are in place to support all learners.
• Lead on the implementation of new technologies and innovations in the department to enhance learning experiences.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with students, encouraging their enthusiasm for computer science and preparing them for future opportunities.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s digital strategy.
• Collaborate with other departments to promote the integration of computing across the curriculum.
• Lead and contribute to departmental planning, assessment, and reporting.
Requirements:
• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent is essential.
• Significant experience teaching Computer Science at secondary school level (GCSE and A-Level).
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and manage a team of educators.
• A passion for computer science and technology, with a strong understanding of the latest industry trends and innovations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage students, staff, and parents effectively.
• Experience in curriculum development and delivering a high-quality computer science program.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to lead change and improvement within the department.
• A commitment to fostering an inclusive, inspiring, and innovative learning environment.
