Senior Public Health Manager - Suicide Prevention
This role is fixed term until March 2027
All about the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join the Public Health team in Peterborough but work across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough with a solid focus to reduce deaths by suicide, through compassionate and insightful understanding of the root causes of mental health distress and mental health illness that can lead to suicidal ideation and what can be done to mitigate against these risks and support those who are struggling.
The right person will have a population view of mental wellbeing and the epidemiology of suicide. They will be able to analyse and interpret sensitive data on suspected suicide and suicide attempts, in order to perform audit and inform learning across the system of mental health care and support. They will work closely with ICS colleagues to commission and contract manage suicide prevention initiatives and ensure that the recommendations from the needs assessments and suicide prevention strategy are implemented.
To this end, they may hold budget responsibility and engage in co-production work with people who have lived experience of suicide or who have been bereaved as a result of suicide to inform commissioning decisions.
They will bring this work together for the system by chairing the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Suicide prevention board and suicide review groups and report progress to the ICB and the Health and wellbeing board.
The role will sit within the vibrant and welcoming Public Health Team in Peterborough at the City Council but will work with the Public Health team at Cambridgeshire County Council as well as ICB mental health commissioners and funders for this role.
