Our client is a well-established, fast growing European market-leading specialist in sustainable manufacturing services and partner to major OEMs, such as Ford, JLR and many others. They are an entrepreneurial business who, due to on-going expansion, are committed to driving continuous improvement and strategic development throughout the business and now wish to appoint a new Senior Manufacturing Engineer. Due to the nature of their work supplying to OEMs, they are compliant with the highest quality standards, meaning it is a "best practice" environment, yet it is a smaller, more entrepreneurial company, making this a unique place to gain a very broad set of skills, commercial, customer facing, technical and true engineering-based problem solving. They pride themselves on mentoring and developing their people and it is a culture in which, whilst supported, you will be expected to take ownership, making decisions and being autonomous.
In this role you will:
1. Make improvements to efficiency throughout the factory through the following:
2. Factory and process line re-layouts
3. Line Balancing exercises
4. Improving production tooling, fixturing and other equipment
5. Use the collection and analysis of data to focus process improvements
6. Manage a variety of engineering activities for current production programs to ensure compliance to customer specific and business requirements.
7. Determine the root cause of problems, implementing permanent corrective actions
You will have a clear vision for best practice, a focus in making sustainable change in the pursuit of efficiency and proven experience of implementing Lean (or similar) into a Manufacturing facility. In the role, you will become the subject matter expert within your field and take responsibility for on-going process development, supporting new product introduction (NPI) and change management within production. They have won a significant new contract and have others due to land in the near future, offering the right person, a real opportunity to add value.
Required experience
1. Lean or another similar methodology
2. Excellent practical engineering knowledge
3. Making savings throughout production facilities
4. Factory layout optimisation
5. Designing simple tools & components, supporting with accurate drawings, and co-ordinating & overseeing their manufacture.
6. Compiling and maintaining Bills of Material and other ERP system data.
