Our highly reputable Clinical Sciencesdepartment has an exciting opportunity for a PostDoctoral ResearchAssociate to join the team who will support projects focused on theidentification and refinement of interventions targeting viralpathogens. The successful candidate will work as part of acollaborative research group supporting a diverse researchportfolio.
Day to day duties will include themaintenance of mammalian cell culture viral propagation and thedevelopment of robust methods to support preclinical antiviral drugdiscovery programmes including the development of new viralcontrolled human infection models.
Key responsibilitiesinclude:
* Supportproduction of new SOPs and risk assessments as required
* Maintenance of accurate laboratory records and stockinventory
* Preparation of stock compounds andreagents
* Preparation of cell culturemedia
* Maintenance of mammalian cellcultures
* Viral stock propagation andstorage
* Bacterial stock propagation andstorage
* Plan and perform experimentsindependently according to established protocols
* Support the work of research students
* Identify and report project risks andopportunities
* Leading in paper writingactivities
The idealcandidate will possess the following:
* PhD Qualification in Biological Sciences (orrelated discipline)
* Practical laboratoryexperience with experience of working independently
* Experience in viral culture and mammalian cellculture
* Strong attention to detail withprevious experience in generating laboratory data and maintainingaccurate records
* Experience in publishinghighquality research in peerreviewed journals
* Previous experience of managing multiple projects andworking to deadlines
