Job Title: Category Buyer
Contract Type: 12-month FTC
Location: Alderley Park or Edinburgh
Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

We have a 12-month Fixed Term Contract available for a Category Buyer to join the Procurement team on a temporary basis. Working with a team, you will be responsible for providing procurement support and specific procurement activities to deliver cost reductions and the fullest overall commercial value from third party contracts.
You’ll lead low to medium spend and low to medium risk procurement projects while building expertise through the production of spend reports and research on suppliers to support the procurement process. Along with any additional administration tasks to support the Business Services and IT Procurement Teams.
About the role
* Assisting in the end-to-end tendering process, contract and price negotiation with third party suppliers.
* Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end procurement process and effective execution of the process, building sufficient knowledge as to become a ‘go to’ Procurement resource for stakeholders.
* Act as procurement lead for low to medium spend and low to medium risk category projects and services.
* Deliver a high level of service to our stakeholders, building good relationships throughout Royal London and with key SME’s, e.g. Risk, Finance, Legal.
* Create and present category spend reports to the Procurement Managers in support of their category initiatives.
* Support the Procurement Managers to design, lead and implement category market leading sourcing arrangements for designated spend category.
* Support the Procurement Teams with the on-going maintenance of a single team-wide workload management and reporting tool.
About you
* Good commercial acumen.
* Excellent PC skills e.g. Microsoft Office suite.
* Ability to build and maintain effective business relationships, internally and externally.
* Good analytical skills, with strong attention to detail and can analyse and interpret complex information.
* Strong planning and organisational skills, managing a variety of tasks and projects simultaneously to meet objectives and deadlines.
* Acts with a high degree of personal integrity and represents the Procurement team in a professional manner.
* Has a passion for Procurement and ‘commercial curiosity’.
