We are looking for enthusiastic Pharmacists to join our modern purpose-built facilities at ESNEFT, Ipswich Hospital. There will be the opportunity to work across to Colchester Hospital in order to widen your breath of experience.
Our clinical team is extensive with ward based Pharmacy teams working across a broad range of clinical specialties in which you will have an opportunity to rotate.
Our friendly pharmacy team are dedicated to nurturing, mentoring and developing our staff to reach their full potential and you will be assigned a mentor buddy to assist with this.
We provide professional development opportunities including educational events, tutorials and workshops. We support opportunities to study for a Postgraduate clinical diploma and a non-medical prescribing qualification.
ESNEFT is about to embark on a full site wide implementation of the EPIC electronic patient record which includes electronic prescribing and administration and pharmacy stock control system.
In addition to our fully automated dispensaries we host Specialist Pharmacy Services (SPS) Medicines Information, and Regional Unit for Pharmacy Manufacturing (including a brand new licensed Aseptic facility).
Main duties of the job
This role will involve working closely with the multi-disciplinary team along with senior colleagues and Pharmacy Technicians to provide a safe and efficient service to our patients.
As a member of the team you will participate in a range of audits in prescribing practice and drug usage and contribute to the development of our service and the Trust's Medicines Optimisation Strategy.
We are committed to providing a patient centred approach to medicines management through providing evidence based choice of medicines with a goal of improving outcomes, reducing wastage of medicines and improving medicines safety. To do this you will undertake daily clinical ward visits to specialist areas. You will also provide patient counselling to improve adherence to treatment and ensure patients derive the intended benefits and avoiding incurring harms. To ensure your patients receive the best care, you will be involved in incident reporting as part of clinical governance.
As part of your on-going development you will take part in the out-of-hours and 7 day pharmacy service where you will further develop your clinical knowledge, organisation and decision making capabilities.
You will be involved in a wide range of professional activities which will reflect your development and competence as you progress through the Structured Training and Education Programme (STEP) competencies and standards. These have been developed in-house to support and guide your learning and development.
