Position Overview
The role is responsible for managing the day-to-day IT needs of the organisation working with key suppliers to deliver high quality IT support, in line with the business’s agenda of rapid growth. The IT Manager is also responsible for helping to create and deliver IT strategy for the short, medium and long term, leveraging technology to help the business achieve its goals.
The IT Manager will work closely with suppliers to deliver efficient and effective strategic IT solutions for the business, ensuring alignment with both operational needs and long-term objectives. This includes managing day-to-day IT requirements while overseeing supplier relationships to ensure the delivery of secure, compliant, and high-performing IT services. The IT Manager will be responsible for ensuring data compliance with UK regulations, including GDPR, and will oversee risk management processes to mitigate potential security threats. Additionally, the role will involve managing cybersecurity initiatives to protect business assets and information. As the company expands into international territories, the IT Manager will ensure that IT systems and practices are aligned with local compliance standards and cybersecurity requirements, enabling smooth and secure global operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic IT Leadership: Collaborate with senior leadership to align IT strategies with business objectives, growth plans, and international expansion.
* Technology & Innovation: Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge and drive operational efficiency.
* Risk Management & Cybersecurity: Manage IT risks, including cybersecurity threats, data protection, and disaster recovery plans, ensuring business continuity and compliance.
* Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to GDPR, ISO 27001, and industry regulations through robust IT policies and collaboration with legal teams.
* System Performance & Infrastructure: Optimise IT systems, oversee hardware/software procurement, and maintain scalable, reliable infrastructure.
* Supplier & Vendor Management: Select and manage third-party providers, ensuring service quality, cost-efficiency, and timely deliverables.
* IT Budgeting: Develop and manage the IT budget, delivering financial reports and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
* Global IT Strategy: Support international expansion with compliant, secure, and integrated IT solutions tailored to local requirements.
* Innovation & Future-Proofing: Identify and implement digital transformation initiatives, including automation and cloud solutions.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Excellent knowledge of AWS, Google Workspace and Apple technologies
* Experience of managing IT suppliers to deliver IT Services
* Proven experience of creating/designing, managing and maintaining IT infrastructure and security for an organisation
* Sound knowledge and experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems, specifications, networks and computer systems
* Experience of implementing new IT systems
* Experience with budget management

* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* Working knowledge and/or experience of the educational and healthcare businesses
