Work

What you’ll do at work
* Within our UK-based Electrical Team we undertake projects across all process industries. We provide concept design to delivery solutions for projects ranging from HV infrastructure through to Process Automation Control Systems. We are looking to grow our team and create a sustainable future. We are looking for an apprentice to join our team to develop into a consultant engineer supporting our clients on projects across the UK and our overseas colleagues across the world. We are building a team to lead the business globally. Our projects can vary from feasibility studies on HV capacity to Control System Migrations in a Brewery in South East Asia. Over the course of the apprenticeship, the training will not be limited to your Level 6 degree with Derby College. We will develop with you a career plan and set development goals across your apprenticeship that will range from specific technical requirements, project management and leadership assessments.
Project Work:
* Electrical concept Design on a project by project basis
* Writing specifications for Panel, Instrumentation & Installations
* Writing specifications for Building Services
* Writing of project documentation
* Project documentation
* Management of the electrical element of any assigned project inclusive of suppliers and contractors
* Onsite I/O Testing & Commissioning Support
* Ensuring As Built Documentation is completed by suppliers and issued to clients
Sales:
* Supporting the Solutions Sales Team with proposal & costings for the EC&I elements of quotations
* Attending Sales visits with prospective customers
* Advising the customer on possible technical/technological developments, service opportunities and optimisation possibilities
Documentation:
* Preparing Documentation as detailed but not limited to
* Feasibility Studies
* URS (EC&I)
* Engineering Schedules
* Witness Test Reports
* Commissioning Schedules
* Collate As Built Documentation
* Review other suppliers' documentation in a timely manner
* Produce Project documentation using the Niras or Customer Standards

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
* 5 x GCSE (must include English, Maths & Science) (grade 4/C or above/equivalent)
BTEC in:
* Engineering or Technology (with further Maths) (grade 4/C or above)

Other requirements
Niras are an international consultancy business, we have projects across the globe which will require an element of UK and International travel as the candidate progresses through their career. The successful candidate must have a desire to travel and work away from home for short durations. You will need a clean driving license to apply for this position. Employees are expected to work the hours required for the proper fulfilment of their duties and business objectives. This may extend to occasional additional hours above standard work hours. Where significant additional hours are required, time off in lieu (TOIL) is available subject to any qualifying conditions operated by the business unit and prior approval from the Line Manager. In this regard, there may be a possible requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends, however it is anticipated this would be very limited and usually subject to customer shutdown requirements. Any such requirement would be subject to discussion between the individual and their Line Manager. If any international travel for business purposes is required, this may include weekend travel overseas.
