A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the team at Haybrook College and make a real difference in the lives of Slough’s most vulnerable young people. We are looking for the right candidate to join our team at the earliest possible opportunity or by September 2025 at the latest.
Haybrook College Trust is an Alternative Provision (AP) academy supporting the needs of vulnerable pupils across Slough, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, and other surrounding boroughs who have been excluded or are at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream education.
We also have a small special school for young people with a range of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. Our recent Ofsted inspection in January 2025 stated that we, ‘ rapidly build positive and trusting relationships with pupils. This means that pupils’ needs are quickly known by staff and well met. As such, most pupils achieve very well.’

Working in an AP or specialist setting takes a special kind of person and is different from a mainstream school. With an average of 8 pupils in a class and a shorter, but much more intense teaching day, it gives you the time and ability to get to know the pupils in-depth and support their needs to secure the best possible personal and educational outcomes. The successful candidate will find this post challenging, exciting, varied, and fulfilling. You will be working in our KS4 alternative provision at Springboard with a range of dedicated staff who want to achieve the best outcomes for our cohort of young people.
About You
The ideal candidate will be an experienced ICT/Computing teacher with a passion for the subject and promote the love of learning within the ICT/Computing curriculum. You will also have a passion for SEND and for meeting the individual needs of pupils. As a teacher of ICT/Computing you will have knowledge of the relevant curriculum for KS3 and KS4, experience of teaching pupils with a range of vulnerabilities, challenging behaviour or SEND, and above all, have the desire and drive to see the most vulnerable young people in society succeed.
You will be an energetic, highly resilient and adaptable individual with excellent creativity and flexibility of thinking to ensure challenges are met and problems are solved. The ability to be flexible and work alongside a team are essential. A high level of understanding of SEMH, SEND, safeguarding, equality and fairness are as important as a good sense of humour, openness and compassion; all of which will be needed in this role to support our young people through these challenging times. The ability to communicate effectively with parents and outside agencies is essential.
This post is most suitable for those with either a mainstream, AP, or special school background, with a strong understanding of SEND and how to meet pupils needs. However, we will consider an ECT or experienced unqualified teacher who demonstrates experience and passion for working with pupils with SEND.
About the Role
Working with the relevant Head of Centre and teaching colleagues, you will provide teaching and learning for your subject, which will inspire and motivate pupils, staff, and all other members of the College community.
You will deliver your subject(s) to ensure that all pupils make the best possible progress academically and towards becoming independent learners.
You will carry out the duties of this post in line with the remit outlined in the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document including the conditions of employment for teachers and the College policies.
